Kanemoto was born in Aizu Wakamatsu in Tenpo 8(1837).
Kanemoto lived in Kyoto in attendance upon Katamori Matsudaira who was the lord of a castle of Aizu in Bunkyu 2i1862j.
He was designated the Izumino-kami in Bunkyu 3i1863j and he assumed Master's name of the eleventh Kanesada as a successor.
This sword is famous by being sharp well and is well known as the sword which Toshizo Hijikata who is a vice-commander of Shinsengumi which protected the peace and order of Kyoto loved.
